The Murder Of Dorothy Stratten

Dorothy Ruth Hoogstratten February 28, 1960-August 14, 1980 was a Model/Actress from Vancouver British Columbia Canada.

Dorothy was discovered at a Dairy Queen in Vancouver by Pimp and all around sleezeball Paul Snider. He saw Dorothy and saw a meal ticket.

Snider convinced Dorothy to let him take nude Polaroids of her and he sent them to Playboy in the summer of 1978. Dorothy moved to L.A. shortly thereafter where she participated in the 25th Anniversary of The Playboy Playmate Hunt. She became a finalist and after Snider forged her mother’s signature because she was underage she posed for Playboy.

Dorothy became Playmate of The Month in August of 1979. Dorothy began to work at The Playboy Club in Century City Paul Snider moved to L.A. in October of 1978 and they Married in June of 1979.

Dorothy was named Playmate of The Year for 1980.

Dorothy took some small TV roles and began to act in some movies. She completed the movie Galaxina. She then began to work on the movie “ they all laughed” directed by Peter Bogdonovich starring John Ritter.

Bogdonovich and Dorothy began an affair and Dorothy separated from Snider and moved in with Bogdonovich.

Though many people warned her not to go on the Morning of August 14, 1980 Dorothy went to meet Paul Snider at the home they once shared to discuss a financial settlement and the divorce when he realized he had no control over Dorothy anymore. Snider snapped he beat and raped Dorothy, shot and killed her then raped her corpse afterwards he shot and killed himself.

Dorothy was cremated and her ashes were buried at Westwood Memorial Park in Westwood CA

I visited her grave in 2010 and 2013.

Peter Bogdonovich went on to blame Hugh Hefner for Dorothy’s death then married her much younger Sister. 🤦🏼‍♀️
